Project Description

On Saturday, May 7th 48 students traveled to Nashville, TN to record 8 songs at Starstruck Studios, thee world class recording studio owned by Reba McEntire. This was our most involved recording session to date…running 19 hours, from 8.00am to 3:00am. During which from 4pm to 7pm the students recorded Tangerine Dream’s, ‘Loved By The Sun’ as featured in the classic 1986 Ridley Scott film ‘Legend’.

If you have ever seen the movie ‘Legend’ then you know just how amazingly unique and moving this song is!

Our recording session was an investment of time and dedication by all who participated. Many of these individuals reduced their rates or worked for free in order to make this beautiful song come to life.

And honestly, there are to many people to thank everyone who contributed (literally hundreds) with a project like this. They do it for the kids, it is a work of love. HOWEVER, if we must point fingers!….

We owe a big thank you to Mr. Dan Willard, who transcribed the song and provided us with the sheet music, whose transcription was incredibly accurate and without whom we never could have learned the song. If you EVER need perfect transcriptions, be sure to check out

Clemens Schleiwies, thank you for mixing and mastering the song. We were very excited to have Clemems mix and master the song because, like the original recording artists, he is also from Germany. Clemens transferred the song to analog tape and then mixed it on his vintage Helios console which is from Hansa, a world famous studio in Berlin. For top notch mixes and absolute professionalism, definitely check out Clemens’ services:

Brian Anderson, Josh Cole and Morgan Asher…what can I say? (THANKS GUYS!) These gentlemen worked 24 hours straight and took care of business. They made the trip enjoyable and successful. I truly can’t thank them enough!!!

I’d also like to make an honorable mention and thank:

Kristin Agee for arranging the percussion part:

Tom and Nick Inglin for their fantastic photos which were used in the credit sequence of the video. (Good eye guys!!)

Todd Tidwell and Aaron Kasdorf, the engineers who kept the session relaxed, focused, and productive despite the long hours. (Gentlemen, just amazing work. AMAZING. The students can’t wait to work with you again.)

And of course to all the parents (Those literal ‘hundreds’ I spoke of before), for making this trip possible. My students are very lucky to have parents who are so supportive of their musical endeavors.
